Plant seedlings in full sun from late October through December for the best summer harvest. Space them widely to allow vines to spread, and water deeply at least twice a week during hot spells. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Train vines along the ground or onto supports if space is limited. Harvest fruit from late January to March when the underside turns creamy yellow and the melon sounds hollow when tapped.
