How does online order deliveries work?
Within 24 hours of receipt of your order, we will determine availability of all your items. If all stock items are available we endeavor to deliver within 24 hours after payment reflects in the account. If we first need to have plants sent from the farm in Vredendal or from one of our other suppliers, we will communicate this to you. In general, deliveries take within 2 to 5 days after having received proof of payment. We make use of Cape Gardens’ in-house drivers and they will get in touch regarding a convenient delivery time & date.
The Cape Garden Online store makes use of Cape Garden’s in-house delivery fleet to ensure that your beautiful plants and gardening products are delivered in perfect condition. Plant and garden supply deliveries require a specific type of vehicle and usually two staff members per vehicle. Delivery fees are automatically calculated at checkout based on a return trip to your delivery address from the Joostenbergvlakte branch which serves as our main warehouse. Please notify us in advance if you will require delivery staff to carry your purchases to specific spots on your premises as we might need to send an additional staff member to assist.
How does pick-up of my online order work?
This service is only available for fully paid orders. We aim to have your order ready to collect within 2- 4 days from the time we’ve received your payment, depending on stock availability and whether we need to order plants from our farm in Vredendal.
We will contact you to confirm that your order is ready to collect. Please do not attempt to make a collection prior to receiving this email as we cannot be held liable for any costs incurred due to your order not being available yet.
Your order can unfortunately only be held for 7 days from the day that we have notified you that your order is ready for collection. Thereafter it will be returned to the floor. A handling fee of 40% will be deducted from your total before a refund will be made. If you are unable to collect your plants within this time frame, please contact us as soon as possible.
Pick up may only occur between 09:00-10:30 or 15:00 - 16:30 (7 days a week) at Cape Garden Centre, 56 Tarentaalstreet, Joostenbergvlakte.
Please keep in mind that weekends are normally busier and although we will try our best to assist promptly there may be a slightly longer wait depending on the number of pick ups.
Please give us a call when you are close by so that we can make sure to meet you at the pick-up bay. Follow the signs to the Cape Garden Online Pick up point. You would need to provide us with your invoice number ,name & surname.
Vouchers & Gift Cards
There is a difference between an Online Voucher and a In-Store voucher. Online vouchers can only be used for online purchase on www.capegardenonline.co.za. In -Store vouchers can be used at any of the Cape Garden Centre stores but not online. These vouchers can’t be changed once purchased.
Vouchers can’t be transferred for cash and are non-refundable. Vouchers are valid for 1 year from the day of purchase.An In-store vouchers is a hardcopy that will require delivery and can’t be emailed. The delivery fee will be calculated depending on the address of the receiver.
Both in-store and online vouchers have a unique code and it remains your responsibility to keep these safe. Once lost any other person would be able to use these and for this reason lost vouchers can’t be replaced.
Many images on our website are used for presentation purposes and to indicate the growth potential and usage of plants in your garden.
We know that it can be difficult to envisage the size of the pot and plant that you are purchasing. The pot size that you select is the pot size that you are purchasing and the size of the plant will align with this pot size.
In most cases, we have included photos of the pot and plant size positioned against a pair of gumboots (size 6, 70cm high) to give you an indication of the size of plant that you are acquiring. If you toggle between the size options to determine the price of each pot size, please notice that the photo of the plant should in many cases also change to illustrate the size of plant that you are considering.
However, please bear in mind that sizes will vary according to season and no plants are ever exactly comparable.
Cape Garden are unable to accept returns on Plants. If you are not entirely satisfied with the condition of your plant upon receipt thereof, please email or whatsapp us a picture of the plant, its label and the reason for your dissatisfaction within 24 hours of having received your plant.
On merchandise, other than plants, we have a 14-day refund policy. Please notify us via email the reason for return or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging. A refund or exchange is based on the cost of the item and does not include collection fees. To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase via email.
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If your refund is approved, a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within 3 days of the matter being resolved.

In our experience the most common mistakes made are
- Over watering. Never water wet soil
- Planting too deep. Never bury a plant stem under the ground.
- Poor drainage. When you have soil that doesn’t drain, lift up the area by adding more soil and then plant your plant at the top, so that the water drains to the sides.
The prices of all online products are the same as in-store purchases.
However, Cape Garden Online operates as a separate business unit from our Cape Garden Centre stores, therefore please email all enquiries regarding online purchases or telephonic orders to firstname.lastname@example.org as the in store staff will in all probability not be able to assist with a request pertaining to an online order.
