A compact version of South Africa’s national flower, the King Protea, this variety produces striking pink blooms from late winter (July/August) through early summer (November/December) in Cape Town’s Mediterranean climate. Perfect for smaller gardens, pots, or as a bold focal point, it offers all the grandeur of the King Protea in a manageable size. Thrives in full sun with sandy, well-drained soil and is highly drought-tolerant once established.

A charming, space-saving protea that brings iconic beauty and resilience to your garden.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Compact size perfect for pots and smaller gardens.
  • Iconic pink blooms with dramatic flower heads.
  • Drought-tolerant and water-wise for Cape Town conditions.
  • Attracts pollinators like sunbirds and bees.
  • Adds indigenous flair and year-round interest to landscapes.

Plant & Care

Plant in full sun with sandy, acidic, well-drained soil. Water sparingly once established, as proteas dislike excess moisture. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage new growth. Avoid fertilisers high in phosphorus, as proteas are sensitive to it. Mulch lightly to retain soil moisture during Cape Town’s dry summers.
