Frangipani (Plumeria sp.) – a compact tropical tree that brings a touch of island beauty to Western Cape gardens. Its intensely fragrant, waxy blooms appear from mid-summer to autumn, set against lush green foliage. Perfect for sunny, coastal gardens or large pots on patios where it thrives in heat and wind.
Why You'll Love It:
• Exquisite fragrance that fills warm evenings
• Flowers generously from mid-summer to autumn
• Adapts beautifully to coastal and windy areas
• Drought-tolerant once established
• Ideal for pots, courtyards and small gardens
• Non-invasive root system safe near walls and paving
Planting & Care:
Plant in full sun in free-draining soil mixed with compost. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Feed in midsummer with 2:3:2 or organic flower fertiliser to encourage blooming. Protect from frost in cooler areas and prune lightly in late winter to maintain shape.
