A compact, sun‑loving marigold bred to perform brilliantly in hot summer conditions, making it an ideal choice for Cape Town’s warm, dry climate. The Hot Pak Yellow produces masses of bright, golden‑yellow blooms from late spring right through to late autumn, bringing months of cheerful colour to beds, borders, pathways and containers. Highly regarded for its uniform growth and heat tolerance, it also doubles as an excellent companion plant in vegetable gardens thanks to its natural pest‑repelling properties.
A bright, reliable summer classic loved by gardeners of all levels.
Plant in full sun for the strongest flowering and most compact growth. Use well‑drained soil and water regularly but avoid soggy conditions, as marigolds prefer drier roots. Removing spent blooms will encourage continuous flowering throughout the warm months. Feed lightly every few weeks during peak summer to boost flower production. Excellent for planting alongside tomatoes, peppers, and herbs to help deter pests naturally.
Marigolds contain natural compounds called thiophenes, which can help reduce nematode populations in the soil, one of the reasons they’re so prized in organic gardening!
