Plant & Care

Remove spent flower stalks to encourage neat growth. Protect from heavy frost, though it generally withstands Cape winters well.

The name Cotyledon orbiculata comes from the Latin “orbiculata,” meaning round. A nod to its distinctive rounded leaves. In traditional Cape use, the leaves were sometimes applied as a soothing poultice for minor skin irritations.
