Plant & Care

Plant in the sunniest spot you have, at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. Water moderately during establishment, then reduce as it matures (bougainvillea prefers slightly dry conditions). Prune lightly after flowering to shape and encourage new growth. Feed with a balanced fertiliser in spring for lush bracts. Protect from frost, but otherwise it’s a tough, low-maintenance beauty.

Did You Know?

Bougainvillea’s colourful “flowers” are actually papery bracts, modified leaves, that surround tiny white blooms. This clever trick makes them one of the most vibrant and long-lasting displays in the plant world
