A tough, water-wise South African indigenous perennial that performs reliably in Western Cape gardens. It produces elegant white flowers with golden-yellow and violet-blue markings from spring into summer, with occasional flowers outside this period in favourable conditions. Ideal for borders, mass plantings or erosion-control areas, and equally at home in full sun or semi-shade. Dietes spread naturally to form dense, long-lasting clumps that stay attractive with very little maintenance.

Why You'll Love it:

  • Indigenous and beautifully water-wise.
  • White blooms with yellow and blue markings for year round interest.
  • Forms neat , structural clumps over time.
  • Excellent for mass planting, borders and erosion control.
  • Low maintenance and very reliable in Western Cape conditions.

Plant & Care

Space 60–80 cm apart for mass plantings or use individually in mixed borders. Plant in well-drained soil and avoid areas that remain waterlogged after winter rain. If needed, feed in spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser to support healthy growth and flowering. Leave flowering stems in place while they are producing flowers; remove old or untidy stems only when they have finished flowering.

Did You Know?

Each Dietes flower may last for only a day, but new flowers keep appearing along the same flowering stems, creating a surprisingly long-lasting display.
