Peach 'Oom Sarel' is a vigorous, productive deciduous fruit tree prized for its large, round, golden-yellow peaches with firm yellow flesh and a delicious flavour. The fruit is a clingstone variety, making it excellent for fresh eating as well as cooking, baking, canning and drying. In the Western Cape, Oom Sarel peaches are generally harvested from early to mid-December.
A strong, spreading tree with a low chilling requirement, Oom Sarel is well suited to many South African growing areas. It is self-pollinating and a reliable bearer, making it an excellent choice for home orchards and productive gardens. Plant in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil.
