A productive fig with small, round to egg-shaped fruit, green skin that turns yellowish when ripe and very sweet, straw-coloured flesh. In the Western Cape, the main crop typically ripens from late January, with a good early crop also possible.

A vigorous, self-fertile deciduous tree that thrives in hot, sunny conditions. An excellent choice for home gardens and containers, with fruit ideal for fresh eating, drying, jams and preserves.

Why You’ll Love It:

  • Very sweet fruit – rich, honey-like flavour.
  • Attractive green-yellow skin – golden tones develop as the fruit ripens.
  • Heavy bearer – produces generous crops once established.
  • Versatile fruit – excellent fresh, dried or preserved.
  • Container friendly – performs well when grown in large pots.

Plant & Care

  • Sun: Full sun is essential for the sweetest, best-flavoured fruit.
  • Soil: Well-drained soil; avoid waterlogged conditions.
  • Water: Water regularly during active growth and fruiting, especially in hot weather.
  • Feed: Feed lightly in spring; avoid excessive fertilising.
  • Prune: Prune lightly in winter to maintain shape and remove dead or crossing branches.
