A charming perennial with clusters of soft pink, apple-blossom colored flowers that fade to cream as they mature. Flowering from late spring through summer in Cape Town’s climate, it adds a romantic touch to borders, cottage gardens, and wildflower plantings. Its feathery, aromatic foliage is attractive even when not in bloom.
Plant in well-drained soil in full sun. Water moderately during establishment, then reduce for drought tolerance. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage repeat flowering. Divide clumps every few years to maintain vigor. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can reduce flower production.
Yarrow has been used since ancient times for its medicinal properties, and its name comes from Achilles, the Greek hero said to have used it to treat wounds.
