Dietes grandiflora – a tough, water-wise indigenous perennial that performs reliably in Western Cape gardens. It produces elegant white flowers with yellow and blue markings throughout the year, rising above neat, sword-like leaves that keep their structure even when the plant is not in bloom. Ideal for borders, mass plantings or erosion-control areas, and equally at home in full sun or semi-shade. Dietes spreads naturally to form dense, long-lasting clumps that stay attractive with very little maintenance.
Why You'll Love It:
• Indigenous and beautifully water-wise
• White blooms with yellow and blue markings for year-round interest
• Thrives in sun or semi-shade
• Forms neat, structural clumps over time
• Excellent for mass planting, borders and erosion control
• Low maintenance and very reliable in Western Cape conditions
Planting & Care:
Space 60–80 cm apart for mass plantings or use individually in mixed borders. Plant in well-drained soil and water regularly during establishment. Feed in spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser to support healthy clump growth and continuous flowering. Remove spent flower stems to keep the plant tidy.
