Jasminum polyanthum, commonly known as common jasmine, is a fast-growing, evergreen climber celebrated for its profusion of intensely fragrant jasmine flowers. It produces masses of pink buds that open into star-shaped white blooms from late winter into early spring, adding charm and fragrance to any space.
Unlike star jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides), which is a different species, Jasminum polyanthum prefers sun to partial shade and grows best in well-draining soil. It is ideal for training over trellises, covering walls, or growing in containers on patios or decks. While it doesn't bloom in summer like some other summer flowers, its early-season display is striking. Jasminum polyanthum requires minimal pruning and is an easy-care addition to both formal and informal garden settings.
