A show-stopper when planted in mass. This hardy, herbaceous perennial has poker-shaped flowers, carried on stout stems, with orange buds opening to yellow in winter. The blooms last for weeks and last well in a vase too. A huge attraction for pollinating insects and birds. Add compost and bonemeal when planting to encourage strong roots. Fertilise with a slow-release fertiliser in spring and late summer.
