Aristea capitata, also known as Blue Sceptre is a striking bulbous flowering plant endemic to South Africa’s Western Cape, commonly found on the lower slopes of Lion's Head.  Aristea is part of the Iris family.

Forms thick, evergreen clumps of strap-like, leaves that can reach approximately 1.5 meters in height.  Tall blue spikes of flowers bloom from October. Each morning, the flowers bloom and then close by midday, with new buds opening the next day.

Aristea capitata is excellent for borders, mass plantings, indigenous and water-wise gardens.
